Barry's Teaching Approach: Built on the Fundamentals

"From the beginner to the low-handicap player, the golf swing that works consistently is one that is built on the fundamentals. These fundamentals have not changed in the past 5-8 decades! With respect to each person's individuality, I do my best to implement the fundamentals into each swing with simplicity and clarity."

"When a golfer has been trained through correct teaching and then practices to implement the fundamentals into their swing and muscle memory, they will achieve consistency with lower scores and greater satisfaction! Having been a teacher for 22 years, I truly enjoy working with students at all levels of ability."

Tim Troy

Years of golf teaching experience: 29
Member, Professional Golfers Association (PGA), Class A
College golf at the University of South Carolina
An accomplished player, finishing consistently well in the annual Illinois PGA points race.

Tim's Teaching Approach: Understand Why a Ball Flies Where It Does.

"It is important for my students to understand why a ball flies where it does, how to interpret the sensations they feel while swinging, and to get them to work on the most important aspects of their swing."

"I've watched a lot of people teach, and talked swing theory with many fellow competitors, teammates, and high-profile instructors. Every swing theorist has contributed to my overall understanding."

"It's important to understand you're not driving a nail with a hammer. Golf is a swinging motion through the ball at the target."

Mike's Teaching Approach: From the Ground Up

"My approach is to keep the lesson as simple as possible. I want the student to understand everything that we are trying to achieve. I start the lesson with a review of the fundamentals. If the fundamentals are perfect, then I will proceed with any in-swing flaws."

"I try to work from the ground up with all my students, starting with the ball and working upward. I also like to work from the green toward the tee. I like to balance each lesson with visual, audio, and kinesthetic learning styles."

Mark Arentsen

Years of golf teaching experience: 25
Member, Professional Golfers Association (PGA), Class A
Collegiate golf at North Central College
Winner 1994 IPGA Champions Shootout
Winner of Zigfield Troy Open in 1998.

Teaching Approach: Sound and Yet Simple

"Making the golf swing fundamentally sound and yet simple is my goal. Everyone takes a lesson at a different stage in his or her game, and it's important to make sure that a student is given the correct instruction so as to improve to the next plateau."

"Practice after the lesson is vitally important, too. There are no quick fixes in golf, just repeating the correct swing until it becomes second nature. Then you can forget about your swing mechanics and concentrate on the object of the game ... getting the ball into the hole in the fewest possible strokes."

Mark's Availability for Instruction
Mark's focus is management of the Pro Shop, but he is available for some private instruction (Friday mornings and afternoons, as well as Sunday afternoons). He is Zigfield Troy's premier professional club fitter, and knows golf equipment technology from toe to heel and hosel to grip.

Sean Fantetti

Years of golf teaching experience: 4
Although Sean has just begun his road toward PGA membership, his roots in the golf business stretch back ten years.

He began his career at Hinsdale Golf Club (Hinsdale, IL), where for the final three of his six years there, he served as the Head Coach for the Junior Inter-Club Team.  Then, the call came from Zigfield's, to return where he learned the game in the very Junior Golf Programs he now teaches!

Dedicated to the the three fundamentals of Grip, Aim and Stance, with the idea that a sound, yet simple swing can only be built when all three are present in a golfer's set-up, Sean can take your junior golfer down the road to better golf.  Is there a similar story ready to unfold in your Child's golfing history with Sean leading the way?

To contact Sean for an appointment for a personal or group lesson, please call the Golf Shop at 630-985-9860.
